Let’s address the elephant in the room…
everyone says their practice mute is the best. There are many aspects to balance and here’s how the CookieMute approached mute design:
Size/Weight: It probably won’t store in the bell in your case, but it only weighs ~110 grams and sticks out less than a typical straight mute.
Loudness: It’s not silent, but it is quiet enough to play in an apartment/dorm/hotel room/airport etc. without disturbing others.
Intonation: Many iterations were tested to ensure that the intonation stays true to the open horn’s patterns.
Blow: The #1 goal through the design of the Cookiemute was to create a practice mute that felt good to play. The resistance is very similar to an open horn, and the mute provides a lot of feedback so you don’t overblow and wreck your chops.
After all, a practice mute is a tool to help your playing, not set you back.
