Full-Length Bio:

David “Cookie” Koch is a trumpeter, content creator, brass bander, and all around nerd. He freelances throughout the Midwest, and has developed the CookieMute - an innovative practice mute for trumpet.

Concurrent with his busy playing schedule David makes videos in his home studio. Focusing on works written by living composers, these videos range from solos with sampled accompaniments to multi-tracks including tenor horn, flugabone, baritone, and euphonium. David is an Artist in Association with Brookwright Music, creating videos to promote their publications. He is also a co-founder of the Trumpeter’s Multi-Track Competition - a unique competition established in 2021 for the advancement of the art of multi-tracking.

David earned his Master of Music degree studying with Paul Merkelo at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montréal, Québec. While there, he performed with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Orchestre Symphonique de Sherbrooke, Pronto Musica, Griffon Brass Band, and attended Music Academy of the West. Immediately after graduating, David was the acting principal trumpet of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra in Ontario for the 2017/2018 season. While earning his Bachelor’s degree at Grand Valley State University he won two international trumpet competitions and placed in several others.

David exclusively plays Vennture Mouthpieces, is a performing artist for Ken Larson’s BrassWerks, Van Laar Trumpets and Flugelhorns, and is proudly sponsored by Barkley Microphones.
